Company History
The Maple-Press Company was founded by Harry A. Wisotzkey in 1901 as a small family-owned printing business. In its early years, the company principally served as a composition house serving the medical and high quality college textbook markets. The original manufacturing facilities in York, Pennsylvania housed monotype, linotype, and letterpress.

The company has grown significantly through the years and kept pace with the numerous technological changes which have impacted the book manufacturing industry. In 1965, The Maple Press Company built and moved into its current scenic location. In 1970, the company purchased Vail-Ballou Press and this acquisition led to the formation of The Maple-Vail Book Manufacturing Group in 1977. That same year, the company added Book Distribution capabilities in York, Pennsylvania. Another Distribution Center was built in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, in 1988 and a third opened in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, in 2006.

The Maple-Vail Book Manufacturing Group has maintained its focus on book manufacturing since its inception. Members of the founder's family continue to operate the company with an unwavering commitment to its customers. It is this focus and commitment that will continue to guide Maple-Vail well into the 21st century.
